On publication in 1927 Dinneen’s Dictionary, as it is familiarly called, quickly established itself as the most poular of all modern dictionaries of the Irish language. Despite its pre-standard spelling and type it remains as essential, as useful and as popular as ever. For the first time since 1927, enlarged page and type sizes have been adopted in the reproduction of this Dictionary (1996).
