This is the publication of an innovative Irish-language drama by Irish playwright and writer, Michael McGee. A contemporary ‘re-imagining’ of William Shakespeare’ A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Elements of the plot of Shakespeare’s masterpiece are transposed to the modern day Gaeltacht and are infused with Gaelic and modern sensibilities. Out of this new premise, a completely new and original piece of theatre is created. As well as delving into themes of love and disorder, the play also offers insights into the contrasts and contradictions of the modern day Gaeltacht and into the dynamics of the indigenous language of Ireland.
