In the 1950’s, Glencolmcille was a quiet backwater ravaged by emigration, poor roads and very little industrial development. Hope was in short supply. Fr Mc Dyer was sent to the parish. He felt that it was his priestly duty to help raise the morale in the minds of the people. He believed that there was the possibility that they could help themselves and create a society that they could cherish and be proud of. Fr Mc Dyer began the work that would make him and his ideas known worldwide. His greatness is that he gave a new vision when darkness was all around. This book celebrates his vision for Glencolmcille and how it became a vibrant dynamic community.
