This 110-minute virtual performance DVD is a rich, immersive exploration of Irish Traditional music, created as a Covid-era response to the loss of live concerts. Blending evocative still imagery with powerful music, Turas travels county-by-county across Ireland and its Diaspora regions in England and the USA.
Performed by Fintan Vallely, Gerry O’Connor, and Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn, with vocals from Máire Ní Choilm, Róisín Chambers, Karan Casey, and Róisín White, and step dance by Sibéal Davitt, this audio-visual experience features hundreds of tunes and songs linked to place, history, and tradition.
The visuals—photography by Nutan, Gareth McCormack, and others—bring the story to life without narration, capturing musicians, dancers, landscapes, and cultural life in over 700 images.
Turas is both a cultural celebration and a unique documentary of Irish music’s depth, diversity, and enduring global appeal.
Supported by Culture Ireland, the Arts Council of Ireland, and Louth County Council.
