Description

Nuair a théann Caoimhín chun cónaithe sa mhainistir, bíonn cumha air i ndiaidh a mhuintire agus an domhain taobh amuigh. Lá amháin, síneann sé a dhá lámh amach an fhuinneog agus déanann lon dubh agus céirseach nead iontu. In ainneoin pianta agus tuirse, fanann Caoimhín ansin go foighneach go mbíonn na lonta dubha óga réidh leis an nead a fhágáil agus tabhairt faoin domhan mór.

Athinsint álainn shéimh ó pheann David Almond ar scéal ársa Éireannach.

When Caoimhín goes to live in the monastery, he deeply misses his family and the outdoor world. One day, he extends his two hands out the window and a pair of blackbirds build their nest in them. Despite pain, discomfort and fatigue, Caoimhín stays patiently still until the baby blackbirds are ready to fly the nest.

This beautiful retelling of the legend of Saint Kevin and the blackbird is brought home to the language in which it first appeared over nine hundred years ago in this lyrical translation.
