Description

Tá scéal Bhláthnaide ar cheann de scéalta móra na Rúraíochta. Is ann atá cur síos ar Chú Raoi, rí Dheasmhumhan agus ard-asarlaí Éireann, agus ar an gcaoi ar fhuadaigh sé Bláthnaid, iníon álainn rí Mhanann, go dtí a dhún féin, Cathair Con Raoi i gCiarraí.

Ach níorbh é Cú Raoi amháin a leag súil uirthi. Shantaigh Cú Chulainn freisin í agus is mar ghell ar ghrá na beirte di a bhí sé ina bháire fola idir Muimhnigh agus Ultaigh ar shleasa Shliabh Mis.

Is ar an leagan is sine den scéal Oidhe Chú Raoi mhic Dháire (Aided Conroí maic Dáiri), a bhunaigh Darach Ó Scolaí an leagan nua seo. Is í Anastasia Melnykova a rinne an obair ealaíne.

The story of Bláthnaid is one of the great tales of the Rúraíochta. It describes Cú Raoi, king of Desmond and high sorcerer of Ireland, and how he abducted Bláthnaid, the beautiful daughter of the king of Man, to his own castle, Cahair Con Raoi in Kerry.

But it wasn't just Cú Raoi who had his eye on her. Cú Chulainn also coveted her and as a token of their love for her, he became a blood feud between Munster and Ulster on the slopes of Sliabh Mis.

This new version was based on the older version of the story Oidhe Cú Raoi mhic Dáire (Aided Conroí maic Dáiri), by Darach Ó Scolaí. The artwork was done by Anastasia Melnykova.
