Description

Leabhar iomlán daite le clúdach crua a insíonn scéal Chúchulainn scríofa ag Réamonn Ó Ciaráin agus é maisithe go hálainn le healaín Dhara Vallely.

Ó mhórchorpas na Rúraíochta a thagann scéalta an leabhair ealaíonta seo. Insíonn Cú Uladh scéal Chúchulainn, ó choimpeart go bás. San athinsint dhílis seo i gcanúint Uladh, tá cuid de réamhscéalta na Tána agus Táin Bó Cuailgne í féin. Tá an téacs an-chumhachtach agus soléite. Sa 7ú céad a scríobh manaigh an béaloideas ársa seo ar phár den chéad uair. Bhí féith na cumadóireachta iontu siúd a bhreac síos na scéalta agus eolas maith acu ar an cheantar inar tharla na heachtraí eipiciúla seo. Dála na manach léannta sin, tá saineolas ar an cheantar seo, seanUlaidh go príomha, ag údar Laoch na Laochra, Réamonn Ó Ciaráin, agus ag an ealaíontóir, Dara Vallely, ós den cheantar sin iad ar aon. Is siombail chumhachtach é Cúchulainn den chrógacht, den dílseacht, d’ealaíontacht na troda, den áilleacht agus d’éirim intinne. Tá spiorad Chúchulainn i ndiaidh laochra, réabhlóidithe, lucht éigse, lucht spóirt agus ceannairí a spreagadh le breis agus míle bliain in Éirinn.

CÚ ULADH: Scéal Chúchulainn  tells the story of Cúchulainn’s life and exploits. It is written by Réamonn Ó Ciaráin and illustarted beautifully with artwork by Dara Vallely. The stories in this handsome book are from the ancient Ulster Cycle and they tell the story of Cúchulainn from conception to death. This faithful retelling is made up of the scene-setting stories of the Cattle Raid of Cooley known as ‘réamhscéalta’ and the greatest Irish mythological epic of them all, Táin Bó Cuailgne (The Cattle Raid of Cooley). The writing is powerful. These ancient stories were first written down in the 7th century by learned and creative Irish monks who had intimate knowledge of the region they described. Like those monks, the author, Réamonn Ó Ciaráin and the artist, Dara Vallely have a special affinity with the ancient territory of Ulster, they both being native to the area. Cúchulainn is a potent symbol of bravery, loyalty, martial prowess, beauty and wisdom. The spirit of Cúchulainn has inspired revolutionaries, artists, sports men and women and leaders for at least a millennium.
