Description

Leabhar dátheangach.

D’fhógair Pádraic Mac Piarais, a raibh páirt shuntasach aige in éirí amach 1916, Éire ina Poblacht ó chéimeanna Ard-Oifig an Phoist i mBaile Átha Cliath. Cuireadh chun báis é, in éineacht leis na ceannairí eile, as a pháirt san Éirí Amach. Ach ba laoch uasal é ina chroí.

Léiríonn na cúig scéal seo dúinn gur fear a raibh tuiscint mhaith le feasacht mhór dhaonna ar shlí mhaireachtála an ghnáthdhuine é Mac Piarais. Déanann sé anailís ar bhrón agus ar shólás mhuintir na hÉireann ina aimsir, agus scríobhann sé ar thragóidí an tsaoil agus an bháis nach bhféadfaidís ábalta éalú ó go deo.

A bilingual book.

Pádraic Pearse, who played a prominent part in the 1916 rebellion, declared Ireland a Republic from the steps of the General Post Office in Dublin. He was executed, along with the other leaders, for his part in the Rising. But he was a gentle warrior at heart.

These five stories show us that Pearse was a man of deep understanding with immense human awareness of the way of life of the average person. He analyses the sorrows and joys of the Irish people of his time, and writes of the tragedies of life and death from which they could never escape.
