Cur síos

Seo an tríú húrscéal bleachtaireachta do dhaoine fásta le Anna Heussaff. Dhá dhúnmharú sa chillín céanna i bPríosún Chill Mhaighneann i mBaile Átha Cliath, ceann acu sa lá atá inniu ann agus an ceann eile sa 19ú haois. Cén ceangal dáiríre atá eatarthu?

Ó thosaigh Anna Heussaff ar an scríobh cruthaitheach sa bhliain 2002, foilsíodh cúig úrscéal eile léi as Gaeilge: dhá úrscéal bleachtaireachta do léitheoirí fásta, Bás Tobann (Cois Life, 2004) agus Buille Marfach (Cló Iar-Chonnacht, 2010), iad araon suite i mBéarra ar chósta an iardheiscirt; dhá úrscéal mistéire do léitheoirí óga in aois 10 – 14 bliana, Vortex (Cois Life, 2006) agus Hóng (Cló Iar-Chonnacht, 2012), ina bhfuil cluichí scáileáin fite fuaite in eachtraí an scéil; agus úrscéal grá comhaimseartha d’fhoghlaimeoirí fásta, Cúpla Focal (Cois Life, 2007).

Bronnadh mórdhuais i gComórtais Liteartha an Oireachtais ar gach úrscéal díobh; agus sa bhliain 2013, thuill Hóng Gradam Speisialta na Moltóirí ag ócáid Leabhair Pháistí Éireann, duaiseanna CBI, nó na Bistos mar a thugtaí orthu tráth. Fógraíodh ag Féile an Oireachtais 2015 gur thuill Scáil an Phríosúin príomhdhuais an úrscéil sna comórtais.

Scáil an Phríosúin suite i gceantar stairiúil Chill Mhaighneann i mBaile Átha Cliath, áit a bhfuil cónaí ar Anna Heussaff le fada. Tá na lárcharachtair chéanna sa scéal is a bhí sna húrscéalta i mBéarra.

This is the third crime novel for adults by Anna Heussaff. Two murders have taken place in the same cell in Kilmainham Gaol, one in the present day and the other in the 19th century. But what’s the real connection between these crimes?

Anna Heussaff first started creative writing in 2002 and has had five previous novels published in Irish: two crime novels for adults, Bás Tobann (Cois Life, 2004) and Buille Marfach (Cló Iar-Chonnacht, 2010), both set in Beara on the southwest coast; two mystery novels for young readers aged 10 – 14, Vortex (Cois Life, 2006) and Hóng (Cló Iar-Chonnacht, 2012), in which computer games are at the centre of the stories; and a contemporary love story for adult learners of Irish, Cúpla Focal (Cois Life, 2007).

All of her novels have won Oireachtas na Gaeilge Awards and in 2013 her book Hóng won the Judges Special Award in the Children’s Books Ireland Awards, or the Bistos as they were previously known. Scáil an Phríosúin received the major award for a new novel at Féile an Oireachtais 2015.

Scáil an Phríosúin is set in the historic Kilmainham area of Dublin where Anna Heussaff has lived for many years. This thrilling story picks up with the same central characters featured in her bestselling previous novels, Bás Tobann and Buille Marfach.
